In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention.
And in an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still.»

"I have known Pier-Andrée Joyal for almost ten years. She is a wonderful piano teacher and performer. It has been my pleasure to give her lessons and to give master classes to her students. You can immediately see the high standard of her teaching level. Pier-Andrée uses only the best piano repertoire to teach and develop good taste in her pupils. Her own performing experience enables her to help her students with any difficulties in piano technique. I can sincerely recommend any potential students to take this opportunity of having a great piano instructor. Call Pier-Andrée and enjoy the music!"

"You were one of the truly gifted students I taught during my thirty-one years at the University; one of the finest pianists at the School of Music, University of Manitoba. Your playing is incredibly sensitive, insightful, and immaculately sculpted. You have such ability and pianistic depth (and artistic nature)."

"It was our greatest joy and privilege to have Madame Joyal as a first music instructor of our two girls: Anne-Marie and Sophie. Thanks to Madame Joyal’s love for her students, her high professionalism, intimate knowledge of music, and, most importantly, pedagogy of teaching music to students of different ages, our girls had such a vibrant and truly remarkable start in their musical quests, which still lasts and lasts after many years..."

"We have had the absolute pleasure of having Madame Joyal as our children's piano teacher for the past six years. Her dedication, patience, and passion for music have had an incredible impact on both of them. Even after moving to the U.S., our children were eager to continue learning with her that they seamlessly transitioned to online lessons. Madame Joyal has a remarkable ability to connect with her students, making lessons engaging and inspiring. She nurtures their technical skills and their love for music, adapting her teaching style to suit each child’s learning pace and interests. Her warmth and encouragement have been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for the strong foundation Madame Joyal has given our children in piano. We highly recommend Madame Joyal to anyone seeking a skilled, kind, and dedicated piano teacher. She is truly exceptional!"

"What a pleasure it is to have Ms. Pier-Andrée Joyal as my piano teacher. She is a very talented teacher with a wealth of experience and a didactic approach adapted to the student’s age and level. Her rigour and love of music give us the desire to constantly surpass ourselves. I've been lucky enough to take advantage of a variety of adapted formulas, at her studio or online. From my home in Eastman, I could easily travel to her studio in Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley, where I could enjoy her presence and kindness while playing on a Steinway grand piano. When travel was impossible, the online option was just as beneficial. Thank you for constantly introducing me to music and its health benefits."

"I am truly blessed to be able to benefit from the musical teachings of Ms. Pier-Andrée Joyal. She is a competent, passionate teacher who is very attentive to the needs of her students. Her academic background and musical experience allow me to benefit from unparalleled teaching, since her teaching method is, without a doubt, one of the most suitable for classical piano. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to have good structure and posture on the piano."

“I recommend you a thousand times my piano teacher, Pier-Andrée Joyal. Totally BILINGUAL. Great pedagogic skills. She adapts to each and every student. She is kind and uses humour as a teaching device to keep student’s attention. She always manages to find the exact words to describe the beauty of a musical piece. She inspires us to tackle a piece and shares her passion and love of music. She also uses images to describe how to bring out the sounds from the piano in the way that we would lik to hear them. She is VERY encouraging. Pier-Andrée builds on our strengths and gently corrects our errors, one at a time. Since she hears the most subtle nuances, she can lead us to a more in depth appreciation of the music. She assigns more complex exercises when it is possible. Her caring approach aims at preserving the essence: the joy of music (can you tell that I like her a lot?!) Pier-Andrée is capable of duplicating the same concept in several different ways. In short, she adapts her pedagogy to the student, not only according to the learning mode to which they respond best in general, but also according to the level at which the student has reached in their training and even according to the student’s mood of the day! There is no doubt that this ability allows her to adapt to a very wide variety of learners, adults and children alike. A very talented and attentive teacher.”

"Pier-Andrée Joyal is a great teacher, with an excellent musical background and excellent didactics, perfectly bilingual (English and French), always in a good mood and ready to answer my questions about piano and music theory. As a pianist and educator, she can easily understand my strengths and weaknesses in music theory and piano playing, and she can help me by adapting her teaching to my needs. She encourages me and helps me a lot in my interpretations of pieces on the piano, showing me all kinds of (unthinkable) nuances, making me aware of them, improving myself as a musician. I love my weekly classes, and I have the privilege of being her student."

“I have also entered the teaching profession! I want to tell you that your level of instruction was phenomenal, and even after all these years, one of the biggest reasons I am still able to enjoy the instrument (piano) is owed to you.
